Consider giving to these projects.

Here are five projects we want to make you aware of.

Could we send you an application and/or proposal for any of them.

Please indicate the ones you would entertain proposals from.

The first one involves a world renown body that has been at the forefront of progressive social movement since before the Civil War.  The other three are small entities, which are each struggling because it is unlikely that persons like you would ever hear about them. Yet It must be believed that were you to know of them, you would support them and they could operate without so much uncertainty.  They each, have the unique natures of getting a lot done on a shoestring through dedicated, poor volunteers,  with little recognition and little support because no one involved with them knows anyone on the boards of foundations or gets to interact with the wealthy.

I am not even sure  how to approach you but realizing you must be very busy and that  brevity is good I submit a word about each of them hoping you will initiate contact if you are interested.   We have read through the information about you at the foundation center realize you are a sincere group really wanting to help somewhere that your help will matter.

I believe that at the very least you would want to know about these efforts to help improve our world.

  1. The Reverand Doctor Martin Luther King Memorial Endowment and Community Effort, led by The Riverside Church in Harlem, NYC to address the over 50% unemployment problem which faces Black Males in the US. Helping them to establish small businesses, which will provide them with work and income.  This endowment will provide venture capital and help for individual success. It will also sponsor and promote and co-sponsor projects which create and foster an economy, which allows these small businesses to participate in and succeed.

a.       Need  50 million dollars.  Expect to raise this amount from a consortium of sources.  How much would you contribute towards this amount?

The followingf are not so famous but they are in real need and they provide real help.

  1. Sister Gena Huddleson, From Mount Etna Mission at Mt Etna Avenue, Bronx NY, who recently died,  was one person who helped more homeless than most of the officially sponsored and more well renowned entities working with the homeless in our nation.  On a given night for the last 40 years she would take up to 40 homeless into her home to get them out of the streets.  She had a unique funding scheme.  She charged them fifty dollars a week each.  Most were able to afford this and she never threw anyone out if they did not have it.  She wisely used the funds to feed them breakfast and dinner, provide clean bedding and help them individually to overcome homelessness by addressing their individual needs as no government or other program could do.  She was like a mother to all of them. Her soul is most alive with the God she worshiped but her body is dead.  However, her work should go on.  Funds need to be raised to buy the house she did this work in from her family and find someone to fill her shoes.

a.       Need about  Five hundred thousand dollars to buy house in the Bronx on Mt Etna Avenue and to provide ongoing support to continue the Mt Etna Mission. How much would you give?

  1. Shepherds Flock: Drug rehabilitation program in Yonkers, NY that has helped many persons in an effective way yet always suffers from under-funding requiring workers to go unpaid and to live in relative poverty.

a.       Need Three hundred thousand dollars for ongoing support.  What can you provide?

  1. Help the homeless Campaign:  Helps to Relocate homeless persons who have been through residential programs and are substance free, drugs, alcohol , pot- smoking free, and helps them find job provided housing for rent and teaches wise money management and stewardship.  Helps them through 3 to 5 year program where they end up homeowners in an area of the country where even someone with low or minimum wage they can afford to buy and keep a  home and never be homeless again.

 a.       Need  Fifity thousand Dollars to Eighty thousand dollars to buy additional house and to upgrade or fix up existing properties making them usable. Also for ongoing support.  Can you help a little?

5. Funds to promote bible reading.  To pay for the Word of God in brief quotes to be in media and on billboards bus advertisements and other mass media.   We believe the Bible is a valuable source of wisdom and help to all in our society. And want to encourage all people everywhere to read it and apply its ideas about love and reconciliation for a better tomorrow.  And to help us with bibles and literature for our street services for the homeless and any passers-by.

     a. Need  from twenty thousand dollars to One hundred Thousand dollars.   Who will give to this effort?

We are a 501 c 3 status not-for-profit organization.  You can donate to us or through us or directly to any of these entities. They each also have their own Non-profit status.

We are an organization which is practical and tries always to help others.  We realize that are many sources who can give and some have different preferences.  Here we are submitting four ideas hoping to make our efforts to distribute them more effective.  We realize that our program would be least likely to get much support. We offer the others too hoping that if we don't get any help that some of the others might.  This way our time, money and effort will help someone to benefit.  Please consider each of them.

We have helped the homeless for 35 years now. We hold services on the streets and in living rooms.  Each time we meet on the street we give from our own recources a little money to each person who has attended our entire service.  These are small services which give us a chance to provide small and individualized spiritual help to homeless souls. Some of our volunteer ministers are homeless themselves.
